Founded in 1991 in the heart of London’s Chelsea Design Quarter, Nordic Style was established by Moussie Sayers with a simple but distinctive vision: to bring the light, elegance, and timeless beauty of Scandinavian Interiors into British homes.

Opening her first showroom on Lots Road, Chelsea, Moussie became one of the pioneers of Scandinavian-inspired interiors in the UK. At a time when dark wood and pine furniture dominated British homes, Nordic Style introduced a softer aesthetic, combining clean Nordic functionality with the rustic elegance of Swedish Gustavian and country-style furniture.

The business quickly became renowned for sourcing handcrafted furniture and beds from Sweden before meticulously hand-finishing each piece in the UK using soft chalky whites, muted greys and warm creams. Inspired by eighteenth-century Swedish design, the collections featured carved detailing, fluted legs and elegant, understated proportions. The business also sold Original Mora Clocks, Gustavian Desks and Cabinet Furniture as well manufactured its own ranges of reproduction copies of original furniture.

Every room was thoughtfully curated with complementary ceramics, lighting, textiles and accessories, creating complete interior schemes rather than simply selling individual pieces. The Gustavian Bedroom Ranges with particularly strong and well received.

In 2009, Nordic Style entered a new chapter when Moussie retired, and the Nordic Style Brand, designs and Intellectual property was acquired by a new owner who had been manufacturing some of the Reproduction furniture for Moussie. Under the new ownership, Nordic Style renovated the Chelsea Showroom and expanded throughout South West London, opening showrooms in Wimbledon Village, Barnes, Fulham, Esher, Guildford, and Richmond upon Thames.

As the costs of running High Street Shops escalated in the UK combined with dramatic increases in labour costs, operating own brand Nordic Style Shops open 7 days a week ceased to be cost effective. Nordic Style closed their own shops and now this web site sells Nordic Style branded products directly to the public by Mail Order, delivering products throughout the UK.

The savings on rent, rates, staffing costs and all the associated costs with operating Shops, can be passed onto the retail customers who can benefit from exceptional pricing for the quality of product delivered.

The web site does not show all the Nordic Style products that they make, have made or belong to the brand, but it shows those that are physically in stock now and ready to dispatch immediately once paid for.
